Working as a sound engineer for live productions entails so many different aspects of my work. I need to think and plan on a technical level, communicate with all of my colleagues and the performers and of course, listen.
Only if your technical skills, planning and communication are taken care of, will you have the time to listen and mix/balance the sound accordingly. Next to all my general audio principles, studio gear and electronics training, I also received training specifically for live sound and have gotten ample opportunity to test and train my skills in real life. For example for shows in Mezrab Amsterdam, Bitterzoet, Beast House Riyadh, Theater Bellevue Amsterdam and live recording sessions at Abbey Road Institute and Galaxy Studios.
